Regional Aquifer Code Names¶
For the purposes of the MAP project, local aquifer codes are generalized to the following names that represent the equivalent unit(s) across the Mississippi Embayment:
110ALVM: mrva # for the purposes of MAP modeling (this may inadvertently lump alluvium outside of the MAP) 112MRVA: mrva # for the 3-layer model, this just means that observations get put in the top layer 112MRVAA: mrva 110QRNR: mrva 111ALVM: mrva 111HLCN: mrva 112LOSS: mrva 112ORVA: mrva 112TRRC: mrva 112ALVL: mrva # Alluvial Aquifers, Undifferentiated, but most of these observations plot within the MRVA footprint 112VLTR: mrva # Valley Trains, Pleistocene 123FRHL: vicksburg # Forest Hills Sands (Kathy classifies this as Vicksburg) 124JCKS: vicksburg # Jackson Group 124CCKF: upper claiborne # Cockfield Formation of Claiborne Group 124CKFJ: upper claiborne # Cockfield Through Jackson Formations 124CCKFJ: upper claiborne # Cockfield Through Jackson Formations, undivided 124CKMN: middle clairborne # Cook Mountain Formation 12405MP: middle clairborne 124BGFD: middle clairborne 124LRDO: middle clairborne 124MMPS: middle clairborne 124QCSP: middle clairborne 124QNCT: middle clairborne 124RKLW: middle clairborne 124SPRT: middle clairborne 124WCHS: middle clairborne 124SPAR: middle clairborne 124SPT: middle clairborne 124SPRT: middle clairborne 124WNSB: middle clairborne 124LSBN: middle clairborne 124SPRTC: middle clairborne # lower claiborne and upper wilcox are difficult to differentiate # the 'lower claiborne' classification therefore covers both 112MUWX: lower claiborne # Meridian-Upper Wilcox Aquifer 124CPRS: lower claiborne # Cypress Aquifer 124CRRZ: lower claiborne # Carrizo Sand 124CZWX: lower claiborne # Carrizo Sand and Wilcox Group, Undifferentiated 124MRDN: lower claiborne # Meridian Sand Member of Tallahatta Formation 124MUWX: lower claiborne # Meridian-Upper Wilcox Aquifer 124WLCX: lower claiborne # Wilcox Group 124WLCXG: lower claiborne # Wilcox Group 124TLLT: lower claiborne # Tallahatta Formation 124NSHB: lower claiborne # Neshoba Sand Member of Tallahatta Formation 124BSCC: lower claiborne # Basic City Shale Member of Tallahatta Formation 124CRVR: lower claiborne # Cane River Formation (Lower Claiborne Confining Unit) 124CRWL: lower claiborne # Carrizo-Wilcox Aquifer 124WLCXU: lower claiborne # Upper Wilcox (should this be split out)? 124WLCXM: middle wilcox # lower wilcox units 124TSCM: lower wilcox # Tuscahoma Formation 124FRPL: lower wilcox # Fort Pillow Sand of Wilcox Group 12414MP: lower wilcox # 1400-foot Sand of Memphis Area (local name for Fort Pillow) 124WLCXL: lower wilcox # Lower Wilcox Aquifer
